Take A Walk OnThe Wild Side

Harley was so excited for her walk! She had no idea she was in for the long haul.

This past Sunday, the boyfriend woke me up at an ungodly hour (11am mind you) to ask if I wanted to go on a little adventure. As soon as I could keep my eyes open, of course I said yes and got out of bed to get ready to go. We had heard of this huge park area with some trails down the street from our house but hadn’t been to check it out yet. In our never ending quest to stop being so lazy and be more generally active people, we decided we would walk to the park. We thought this would be a great idea, especially because we had Harley fixed earlier last week and she was acting pretty stir crazy.

Well, it turns out it was a bit further from our apartment than we had anticipated. And by a bit further, I mean it was 5 miles just to get there. I know for you super fitness people out there that doesn’t seem to bad. But for us that was A LOT, considering we hadn’t even walked any of the trails yet or walked the 5 miles back home yet. We made the best of it though and despite my chin splints on Monday morning, it was a fun outing. On our way home we decided to stop for some BBQ to refuel before we walked the last mile home. Harley was pretty tired at this point so she was the best behaved puppy just hanging out next to our table outside, eating her snacks and water I had packed for the trip (mind you the people had no snacks packed, you can see where our priorities are).

I can’t wait to go back this weekend, but drive there this time, and explore more of the trails. It was so beautiful and the weather was perfect. Working full time during the week makes it tough to get out and really enjoy nice weather so I love whenever I can get out in the sun. So get outside this weekend and explore your town, whether its city streets or mountain trails, go let the sunshine in!

Have a good week!

What’s the name of that park? I’ve been looking for somewhere with a large open area like that.

    • It’s just called the Greenway. It’s down Miccosukee past Capital Circle. It was great! Had a few trails and a GIANT green area where people where having picnics and kids were running around. There are bathrooms and water fountains as well.
